Udhaari is a credit ledger. A shopkeeper records the date and amount when a customer takes goods on credit, and sees what is still outstanding. This policy explains what the app does with that information.
01 Who this policy is from
The Udhaari app is published by SmartBizz, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, INDIA. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the publisher, and "you" means the shopkeeper using the app.
If you have a question about anything here, write to us at udhaari@androidcustody.com.
02 Information the app holds
Ledger entries you create
Everything in your khata is entered by you. This typically includes:
- Customer names, and a phone number if you choose to add one
- The date a customer took goods on credit
- The total amount of each credit entry
- Payments you record against a customer's balance
- Any note you type against an entry
The app does not ask for identity documents, bank details, card numbers, biometrics, health information, or location.
Technical information
To keep the app working and to fix crashes, basic technical information may be recorded: device model, Android version, app version, and crash logs. This is not linked to your ledger entries and is not used to identify your customers.
What the app does not do
- We do not sell your data or your customers' data to anyone.
- We do not use your ledger entries for advertising or profiling.
- We do not share your ledger with other users of the app.
03 Where the information is stored
Your ledger is stored on your own device, in the app's private storage. Other apps on your phone cannot read it.
If you turn on backup or sign in to an account, a copy of your ledger is stored on secure servers so that you can restore it on a new phone. Data is sent over an encrypted connection.
Because the ledger stays on your device, deleting the app deletes the data with it, and we cannot recover it for you.
04 Permissions the app asks for
The app asks for a permission only when a feature needs it, and you can refuse. Refusing a permission disables that one feature, not the whole app.
- Contacts — only if you choose to pick a customer from your phonebook instead of typing the name. Contacts are not uploaded anywhere.
- Notifications — to remind you about pending balances.
- Storage — to save a backup file or export your khata when you ask for it.
Remove any permission above that your build does not actually request. The list here must match what the app asks for on the phone.
05 How the information is used
Ledger entries are used for one purpose: to show you each customer's balance and history inside the app. Technical information is used to keep the app stable and to diagnose crashes. Nothing else.
06 When information is shared
We share information only in these situations:
- Service providers that help run the app, such as crash reporting or backup hosting. They may process data only on our instructions and may not use it for their own purposes.
- When you export a khata yourself — as a file, a message, or a printout. What happens to it after that is in your hands.
- When the law requires it, such as a valid order from a court or authority.
— for example Google Play Services, Firebase Crashlytics, or Firebase Cloud Messaging, if your build uses them.
07 Your customers' information
The names and numbers in your khata belong to your customers, not to you or to us. You decide what to enter and how long to keep it. Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you are responsible for handling that information fairly: enter only what you need for the credit record, keep the phone secure, and delete a customer's record once the account is settled and you no longer need it.
If a customer asks you to remove their details, you can delete their record in the app at any time.
08 Keeping and deleting data
Your ledger stays for as long as you keep it. You are in control:
- Delete one entry or one customer — from that customer's screen inside the app.
- Delete everything — clear the app's data from Android Settings, or uninstall the app.
Crash logs are kept for a limited period and then removed.
09 Security
The app stores your ledger in private app storage, and any data sent over the internet travels over an encrypted connection. No system is perfect, so please also protect your phone with a screen lock and keep the app updated.
10 Children
Udhaari is a business tool meant for shopkeepers. It is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
11 Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app or in the release notes on Google Play.
